31 Beaver Pelts

We’ve got a spooky one for you! Nicole and Jeremy dive into the legend of the haunted Mackinac Island, a resort area in Michigan covering about 3.8 sq. miles. It’s the second place in the country, after Yellowstone, to be declared a national park. Its quaint Victorian houses and “no cars on the island” rule make this a picturesque getaway. But many don’t know the dark history behind this getaway.

Here are a few things in store for our listeners in this episode: Nicole supplies some award-winning sound effects as she explains while beavers are assholes, and Jeremy talks about sex whiskey and asks the big question: why are all ghosts in Victorian garb?

30 W&W Unplugged: Elisa Lam

In this episode, we introduce a new show format called W&W Unplugged! The first unplugged episode finds us investigating the mysterious death of Elisa Lam.  Elisa Lam, a Canadian student, mysteriously vanished in early 2013 during a visit to the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Sadly, her body was recovered in the hotel’s water tank a few weeks after her disappearance.

This case was widely reported, and interest increased just five days prior to Elisa’s body being discovered after the LAPD released a puzzling elevator security camera video that caught was is believed to be the last time she was seen. In the footage, Elisa is seen exiting and re-entering the elevator, talking and gesturing in the hallway outside, and sometimes seeming to hide within the elevator (which appears to be malfunctioning). Theories regarding her bizarre behavior ranged from claims of paranormal involvement to bipolar disorder (from which Elisa suffered); it has also been argued that the video was altered prior to release. Listen to this unplugged episode and try to decide for yourself what happened to Elisa Lam.

29 One-Legged Hipsters

Don’t worry - there really are multiple people talking in that intro; it’s not just the voices in your head. The Weirdos have a special guest for this hashtag-worthy episode! Join us for what we can only describe as a journey as we interview local winemaker and ceiling aficionado, Ryan Scott. This San Diego local has deep roots in the southern California wine industry. He talks to us about how his insomnia changed the course of his life and eventually lead him to get started in the wine industry. We hope you enjoy getting to know Ryan with the help of our rapid fire questions round.

Ryan then takes us to school - WINE SCHOOL! - and talks about the small nuances and hard work that go into running a winery and making wine. Other topics include severed dolls parts, dodging cougars, and paranormal experiences in San Diego.

The Weirdos and Ryan also talk about Elfin Forest and that one time Nicole led Jeremy into a snake lair.

27 Ghost Dick

Season three is heeeeeere! Nicole and Jeremy, the new co-host, kick off another season of weird with talks about defense mechanisms and cartoon doppelgängers. You’ll have to listen to hear w-h-o Jeremy reminds us of!

Jeremy leads the season’s first discussion with a recap/teaser of the Hellier documentary. This intriguing original series, from Planet Weird, explores mysterious occurrences and coincidences that take place in the Appalachian mountains. The first episode summarizes the series as a group of paranormal investigators that head to Kentucky to find out what happened after they received “a panicked email from a man named David, who claims that creatures are lurking on his property.”

We also get an update about the strange occurrences that are happening in Jeremy’s home, learn which dogs match our astrological signs, share our tips for being a paranormal investigator, and discuss experiences with Ghost D.

23 Weirdo Boner

Our friend, Samantha joins us again to give our thoughts about watching the Winchester movie! Spoiler and hot mess alert ahead! First, we were super amped to see this because we got a weirdo lady boner to see some of our favorite things, like Helen Mirren all gothed out as a widow! Sara Winchester clearly had to put up with some bullshit patriarchy but she was rich AF so she decided to lock some ghosts up. #lifegoals Then, the girls discuss how things took a turn in the film, which gives them both reason to drink more.

If you’re interested in learning the real life story of Sara Winchester and her house of mystery check out our first episode HERE.

22 The Infamous Field Trip

Our friend Kacie joins us on this episode! Kacie is a nursing student who grew up in Sedro-Woolley, WA, home of Northern State Hospital. She tells us a few stories from her time doing shift rotations on a psych ward, and also fills us in on the "infamous field trip" she took to the hospital when she was in high school. Northern State Hospital opened in 1912. The hospital was established after the over-crowded conditions at another hospital came under public criticism, and was once the largest facility for the mentally ill in the state. The hospital now it sits abandoned as one of the creepiest locations in Washington.

20 Motorboating

**WARNING: This episode features some (OK a lot of) motorboating - listen at your own risk,**

It's a listener request story! Thanks go out to our fan, John, for sending us this story lead!

Have you ever told a horrible and horrific story to a loved one and their face lights up like a kid on Christmas day, and then you wonder if your loved one is a future serial killer? Well that's what Jackie was wondering when Nicole got waaaaay too into the twisted legend of Belle Gunness and the men that fell victim to her! Seriously,  we were a bit worried about her husband after we recorded this (he is still alive and well - whew!). Belle immigrated to the U.S. in 1881 from Norway. A series of suspicious fires and deaths (mostly resulting in insurance awards) followed. Join us to find out what authorities eventually found on her property, and what happened to this murderous mistress. Also, check out the included pictures and to see why we dubbed her the RBF queen!

One a side note, the ladies discuss their own mental health issues and give a shout out to "treat yo self...to mental health". If you or someone you know is suffering from suicidal thoughts please seek free and confidential emotional support by calling the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

19 Ghost Moans

This episode features guest host Jeremy, who used to host the now retired podcast Deviatus. Nicole and Jeremy have joined forces in the past for paranormal investigations, and they share some of their best stories with us. As they share their appreciation for root beer flavored whiskey, they also talk about how they met and started investigating areas in San Diego. If you give these two weirdos about an hour of your time, what they will give you in return is the knowledge of their own personal pet peeves, some possibly super interesting nerd talk about investigation equipment, some entertaining stories about odd experiences with the paranormal, and some nightmares from their investigation EVPs(Producer Unikitty really hated that part). They also talk about the times when something followed them home after an investigation.

18 Demon House

EIcvfzez_400x400.jpg

While Jackie's away, Nicole will play!  This episode is all about the spooky shit with special guest host and paranormal investigator Samantha, Producer Unikitty's Midwest BFF. For this episode, everyone watched the Zak Bagans documentary, Demon House, and discussed the legitimacy of the evidence.

*******SPOILER ALERT: details of the movie are definitely discussed********

Samantha grew up near Gary, IN, and the Demon House (though the events in the documentary take place after she left the area)and helps paint a picture of the social and economical state of the area. But enough serious stuff....our lady hosts also discuss if they are fan girls of ZaK, which leads to a heated debate. Once they move on from that, they also discuss if these tales of demon possession are true or are people just trying to make some money, whether they would sleep with someone that is cross-eyed as a result of a demon stand off, and if you can make a demon altar with a catering tray, some press on nails and some women's panties.

17 Nerd Rage

This episode hits close to home for our weird hosts, as Jackie leads us through the sorted, dangerous, and mysterious story of one of San Diego's native spree killers. Andrew Phillip Cunanan's story is most famously connected to fashion icon Gianni Versace, but he left a violent and devastating path in his wake before the entire world knew him as Versace's assassin. Nicole's local knowledge helps paints a portrait of what San Diego's gay communities were like in the 1990s when Cunanan committed his crimes. Jackie recaps the traumas of Cunanan's life to try to help us all understand how this man made it onto the FBI's Most Wanted list. Oh yeah, we had to edit alot out as we got into a drunken nerd rage rant about Marvel's Infinity War. But never fear, Nicole's hubby came out from his cave with cookies and saved the day for us!

16 Cool beans, you're evil.

What's creepier than ghosts, clowns, and aliens? Haunted dolls! Nicole brings us a story from the classy AF state of Florida. Robert the doll is 111-years-old and lives at the Fort East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida. Before that he was the property of Robert Eugene Otto, an eccentric artist. Legend has it that Robert the doll is haunted and can affect people that cross the doll's path.

Join us as we explore the legend of Robert the Doll. Was this doll created to be a voodoo priestess to curse the Otto family? What kind of hold did this doll have on Eugene throughout his life? Does the urban legend of Robert the Doll completely overshadow a talented artist, Eugene Otto?

14 The Twinkie Defense

LISTENER WARNING: This episode contains 20% percent more drunkenness, incoherent speech patterns and mentions of a dude name Sturgil than our usual episodes, thanks to our hot mess of a host, Nicole.

Sleep is a weird human state, where weird stuff happens. Sometimes we toss and turn; sometimes we kick. Sometimes we say stuff; sometimes we hear stuff. Sometimes we have paralysis; sometimes we sleepwalk. Some things we remember; some things we don't remember. Some people are light sleepers; some people are deep sleepers. Then there are those SOME PEOPLE that use sleep as their defense after they murder people. So, that's a thing and we explore it in this episode. Sleep well, listeners, sleep well.

12 Call ME, Predator

Congratulations, you've hit the weird shit jockpot! Creepy cryptids? Check! Poltergeist activity? Check! UFO's? MFing check MFers!  Skinwalker Ranch, southeast of BallardUT, is allegedly the site of poltergeist and UFO-related activities, so its naturally the topic of our twelfth episode. Nicole will be your tour guide for this episode, and she weaves a fascinating story about the legend of the skinwalker, and challenges us to disagree with the opinion that white people have basically just been the dumpster fires of humanity all throughout history.

Pour a drink (trust us,  you need one for this episode), find a safe place and listen to a tale about bullet-proof dire wolfs (that's the name of our new indie band...coming soon) and the strange occurrences that Tom Gorman and his family faced while they lived at Skinwalker Ranch. Nicole goes deep down the hell well, detailing the complicated logistics of a pole digger, a hippie losing his shit, and Jackie crushing on Predator (we think t's the dreads, but judge for yourself).

Special thanks to the book that we used as research for this episode: Hunt for the Skinwalker by Colm A. Kelleher Ph.D.,‎  and George Knapp. Check it out!
